Every project is unique and different, each new commission is approached with a fresh eye and mind. The creative process begins with an instinctive response to the site coupled with an understanding of the clients’ requirements and lifestyle.

My interventions, no matter their scale or scope, should complement and enrich their surroundings and environment rather then overpowering them - I like to think that I do not have a set style but favour clean lines and manipulating scale and proportions to impart a sense of harmony and timelessness to the spaces we make.

I value the beauty of natural and appropriate materials and artfully combining them; equally selecting and skilfully mixing the right plants is paramount to the success of any garden, I often begin by creating a strong green structure to support and offset more, softer plantings.
With a current portfolio of projects across the British Isles and Europe, Tommaso del Buono has cemented his reputation designing gardens that are beautiful and sensitive to the landscapes, materials and people he works with. His studio nowadays operates from offices in London and Florence - current commissions include projects across the British Isles and Italy but also in Greece, Switzerland and Portugal.

Whilst much of the work is residential the practice is active in other sectors having created a number of semi-public open spaces including the landscape and gardens at Davines Village in Parma, Italy and the 5 star Cashel Palace Hotel in Ireland. We are currently masterminding the creation of new gardens for 5star resort's in Venice and Greece

Tommaso's work has been widely published in magazines and books both in the UK and abroad. 2008 saw the creation of a first Show Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show; ‘Summer Solstice’ for sponsor Daylesford Organic, awarded a Silver Gilt Medal, whilst in 2014 he was awarded a Gold Medal for his second Chelsea garden created this time for the Daily Telegraph.

Tommaso has twice won the overall ‘Grand Award’ at the Society of Garden and Landscape Designer Award ceremony, in 2016 and 2022 for his projects “A Château in Provence", and "Davines Village, Parma" respectively.
